Derrick has served as Lead Pastor of Blue Valley Church since 2007. His wife, Julie, is an elementary school principal in the KCMO school district and together they have two children (Caleb and wife Dani; Abbey and husband Alex) and four grandchildren (June, Judson, Jax, and Arden).
He holds a B.A. from Oklahoma Baptist University, a MDiv from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and a DMin from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Royals, enjoys quail and pheasant hunting and model trains.
